The StartupWiki API gives you programmatic access to our directory of AI-researched startup profiles. It completely free — no API key required, no sign-up, no rate limit charges. Just fetch and go.

Pull structured data on private companies — funding rounds, financial metrics, leadership, competitive positioning — without paying for expensive databases.

Researchers & Journalists

Access AI-researched startup profiles for market analysis, industry reports, or data journalism. Each profile includes sourced claims and verification badges.

Developers & Hobbyists

Build apps, dashboards, or visualizations on top of our directory. The API returns clean JSON — use it however you like.

Endpoints

GET /api/startups/{id}

Returns the full profile for a single startup, including all sections: header, theTake, financials, investors, products, market, team, timeline, news, sources, and more.

Rate Limits & Fair Use

• Limit — 60 requests per minute per IP address
• Headers — Every response includes X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining, and X-RateLimit-Reset
• 429 — If you exceed the rate limit, the API returns a 429 response with a Retry-After header.
• Caching — Responses are cached for 5 minutes. Data is refreshed with each site deployment. Cache-Control: public, max-age=300

This API runs on a free infrastructure. The rate limit protects it from abuse. If you need a higher limit for a legitimate project, reach out — we're happy to work something out.

Usage Guidelines

• Do — Use the data for research, apps, dashboards, and analysis.
• Do — Cache responses on your end to reduce redundant requests.
• Do — You must attribute StartupWiki as the source and include a link to https://startupwiki.tech when displaying the data publicly.
• Do not — Do not scrape at high frequency — the rate limit is enforced.
• Do not — Do not re-sell the API or the data as a paid service.

Data Freshness

Startup profiles are generated by an AI pipeline and updated when new information is available. The API reflects the state of the directory at the time of the last deployment. Startup profiles are sourced from public registries, indexed news media, and official company disclosures. AI-generated estimates are clearly labeled.
