Nuro, Inc. was founded in June 2016 in Mountain View, California by Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson, two principal engineers from Google's self-driving car project (now Waymo). The company pioneered occupant-free, low-speed electric delivery vehicles — the R1, R2 and third-generation R3/Nuro One — designed with no steering wheel, seats or pedals and dedicated solely to carrying goods.
