Pika Labs (Pika) was founded in 2023 in Palo Alto by Stanford AI PhDs Demi Guo (CEO) and Chenlin Meng — both previously at Meta AI and with research in diffusion and generative models. Leaving their PhDs, they built a Discord bot for text-to-video that went viral, then launched the web app at pika.art.
