About
Framer B.V. (registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, office at Rozengracht 207B, Amsterdam) builds a professional website platform where designers, marketers and AI agents publish production sites without code. Founders Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk previously built design studio Sofa, which Facebook acquired in 2011, and started Framer as a high-fidelity prototyping tool before shipping a production site builder in May 2022 (framer.com/blog/series-c). Today the product combines a freeform design canvas, CMS, SEO, analytics, localization, A/B testing, managed hosting across 300+ CDN locations, and - since the June 16, 2026 Framer 3.0 release - AI Agents that edit pages, components, CMS and SEO directly on the canvas, plus Branching and External Agents that plug in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI. The company reports hundreds of thousands of active sites, ~500,000 monthly active users, and majority-new-customers from business plans, with offices in Amsterdam, San Francisco and Barcelona.
The Take
Framer is a $2B double-unicorn after a $100M Series D (Aug 28, 2025) co-led by returning investors Meritech and Atomico with WiL and HV Capital - roughly 4x the ~$61M it had raised beforehand. ARR passed $50M in 2025 and, per CEO Koen Bok, the company has been 'break-even for the past year', targeting $100M ARR in 2026 (TechCrunch). Co-founders Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk sold their studio Sofa to Facebook in 2011 and pivoted Framer from a prototyping tool to a production site builder in May 2022. Proof points: 40% of a recent YC batch launched on Framer, Perplexity built its site with zero developers, and creators were paid $6.5M directly in 2025. June 2026's Framer 3.0 put AI agents on the canvas with branching.
