LangChain was founded in late 2022 by Harrison Chase, a machine-learning engineer who had worked at Jump Trading. Chase open-sourced a small Python library for chaining LLM calls — 'LangChain' — in October 2022, just as ChatGPT launched and the LLM application wave exploded.
